Amica Educa Association has developed the Handbook for Youth Mental Health and Resilience “A Step Closer to Yourself” and Resilience Cards for Young People – 30 Practical Exercises for Everyday Mental Health Care. Both resources are available to download free of charge and are intended for young people and those who work with them.
The materials were developed within the project “Strengthening the Mental Health and Resilience of Young People in Tuzla” to help young people understand their emotions, cope with stress and strengthen resilience — the ability to face difficulties, adapt to change and draw on sources of support to recover.
Their development brought together the expertise of the Amica Educa team and young people’s experiences. Through consultation sessions, young people suggested topics and practical techniques they found useful and provided feedback on the language and style of the materials. Their contribution helped make the content clear, relevant to their needs and applicable to everyday life.
The handbook “A Step Closer to Yourself” offers short educational texts, practical exercises and guidance on recognising and understanding emotions, coping with stress, setting healthy boundaries and developing self-care habits. It also includes information on when and how to seek additional support.
The Resilience Cards for Young People contain 30 practical exercises that can be used individually or in group settings. Through breathing, grounding, emotional regulation, body-calming and communication exercises, they offer simple ways to pause, notice how we are feeling and support ourselves.
By making these resources available digitally, we aim to enable their use beyond our organisation and project activities — at home, in schools, during workshops and in other settings where young people learn, connect and practise self-care.

The materials were developed within the project “Strengthening the Mental Health and Resilience of Young People in Tuzla”, implemented through the Regional Programme on Local Democracy in the Western Balkans 3 – ReLOaD3. The programme is funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with 14 municipalities and cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project is co-financed by the City of Tuzla.
