Breaking the Silence on Gender-Based Violence

Breaking the Silence on Gender-Based Violence

As part of the global campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Amica Educa is implementing a project focused on the prevention of violence in youth relationships. Through information, education, and active youth engagement, the project aims to empower a new generation to recognize and respond to all forms of violence – emotional, psychological, and digital – while promoting healthy and respectful relationship patterns.

Within the project, six unemployed young people, who are either studying or have graduated in social or helping professions, will undergo intensive training to lead educational workshops and focus groups on the topic of gender-based violence. After completing the training, the volunteers will, with the mentorship of the Amica Educa team, organize three workshops and focus groups with a total of 60 students. These sessions will explore topics such as gender, gender roles, causes and consequences of gender-based violence, and ways to prevent and transform harmful social norms.

In parallel with the educational activities, a strong online and public campaign will be carried out during the 16 Days of Activism. Informative and educational content will be published daily on social media, and on the final day of the campaign, promotional materials will be distributed at universities to reach a wider audience.

The project aims to increase young people’s knowledge about gender-based violence, create space for dialogue on traditional gender norms and the role of youth in transforming them, and develop the capacity of volunteers to act as educators and peer leaders.

The project will be implemented from July 1 to December 31, 2025, with financial support fromAmica Schweiz.
