Young people in Tuzla are increasingly facing anxiety, panic attacks, depression, and other mental health challenges. At the same time, the public support system is largely inaccessible and not adapted to their real needs.
For nearly 30 years, Amica Educa has been providing psychological and counseling support to young people and their families. Our professional team – psychologists, pedagogues, social workers, and psychotherapists – works with young people every day, taking into account their real needs, individuality, and specific circumstances. In just the past five years, through various activities and services, we have supported more than 1,100 young people.
Young people continuously reach out to us for help – and in ever greater numbers. Our services are full, capacities limited, and waiting lists are growing. At the same time, donor funds and projects that finance this kind of support are becoming less available.
That is why the young people we work with – our so-called “agents of change” – did not remain silent in the face of these challenges: they were the ones who proposed this initiative.
And it is precisely for them that we want to establish a Psychological Counseling Center for Youth in partnership with the City of Tuzla. We already have a working model: the trust of young people (and their families), a safe space, a professional team, experience, and measurable results. What is missing is stable support from the city authorities so that this service becomes available to all young people – continuously and without the barriers they usually face when seeking help.
