The Strong Inside project is aimed at improving the mental health and emotional resilience of young people in Tuzla Canton through the development of self-regulation skills, emotional literacy, and safe interpersonal relationships.
In the context of increasingly pronounced challenges faced by young people – such as stress, anxiety, emotional exhaustion, and insecurity caused by socio-economic pressures and various forms of violence – the project provides continuous, professionally guided support focused on strengthening inner stability and capacities for coping with everyday life challenges.
The project is intended for young people aged 16 to 28 who experience difficulties related to mental health and emotional functioning, particularly those exposed to additional risks such as peer, digital, or gender-based violence, as well as those who lack access to continuous psychosocial support.
During the project implementation period, at least 30 young people will be directly involved in activities that include a cycle of 4 psychoeducational workshops, 3 peer group sessions (for 8–10 participants per group), and up to 20 individual counselling or psychotherapy sessions for 5–10 young people requiring additional support. Through these activities, participants will develop skills for recognising and regulating emotions, coping with stress and anxiety, setting healthy boundaries, and building safer relationships.
Additionally, through the Stories That Heal activity, at least 5 young people will, with the support of the professional team and peer counsellors, create experiential content about personal growth and positive changes achieved through psychosocial support, contributing to the destigmatisation of mental health and encouraging others to seek support.
The project will be implemented in the period from August to December 2026 and is funded by the partner organisation Amica Schweiz, Switzerland.
