Peer workshops and peer counselling are based on the “youth for youth” approach, through which young people exchange knowledge, experiences and support with peers of their own generation, in an atmosphere of understanding, trust and mutual learning.
Peer workshops address topics that are important for young people, including mental health, emotional literacy, stress, self-regulation, communication, relationships, personal boundaries, violence prevention, gender equality and youth activism. Through interactive and experiential work, young people develop practical skills and strengthen their sense of connection and belonging. The workshops are implemented at Amica Educa, as well as in educational institutions and youth organisations, in order to make support and learning accessible to as many young people as possible.
Peer counselling consists of supportive conversations for young people who need a safe space for dialogue, understanding and easier coping with everyday challenges. It represents a first level of support, empowerment and connection, with the possibility of receiving information about available assistance in the community, but it does not replace professional psychological or psychotherapeutic support.
Peer educators and peer counsellors are young people who have completed comprehensive training for their roles and receive continuous professional and mentoring support during their work. This ensures the quality of the work, the safety of participants and a clear understanding of the boundaries of the peer role.
