Psychotherapy and Psychological Counselling for Young People

Psychotherapy and Psychological Counselling for Young People

Individual psychotherapy is a deeper and more continuous process of support for young people facing mental health challenges, anxiety, depressive states, crisis or traumatic experiences, loss, experiences of violence, difficulties in the family and relationships, as well as other challenges that affect everyday functioning. Psychotherapeutic work enables a young person to better understand themselves, their feelings, needs and patterns of behaviour in a safe and confidential space, and to develop healthier ways of coping with life challenges.

Individual and group psychological counselling is a shorter and more focused form of professional support. It is aimed at coping with stressful and overwhelming situations, regulating emotional difficulties, recognising one’s own needs, strengthening personal capacities, increasing self-confidence and identifying practical steps for addressing challenges. Counselling may cover topics related to psychophysical and social health, school and university challenges, family, peer and partner relationships, decision-making, motivation, organisation of responsibilities and planning next steps.

Both forms of support take place through confidential conversations with professionals, with respect for the boundaries and needs of each young person.
